Hanna Naum-Stoian is the Executive Director at the Nashville branch of Project Return, a non-profit organization that provides employment-focused reentry programming as well as wraparound services to support participants' needs for housing, identifying documents, clothing, food, and healthcare in greater Nashville and Chattanooga. Hanna joined Project Return in 2019 after graduating from the Community Development and Action Master's program at Vanderbilt University. Hanna is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and earned her Bachelor's degree at University of California, Santa Cruz, where she studied Psychology and Education.
What would you like future physicians who are working with people experiencing homelessness to know?
1) Trauma informed care is a must. Explain everything you're doing before you do it so they are prepared for the movement/touch. 2) So many of us are one tragedy away from being in a similar situation. Lead with compassion and empathy above all else.
